Tonight after day job, I got straight down to work and I'm really pleased with the finished project I've put together for Simply Homemade Magazines blog. It's a Valentines How To but it's not girly and prissy, and it embraces my old gothic roots so I'm hoping it goes down a treat. We shall see! I'll share a link when it goes live of course.
In the meantime I've moved on to our bedroom. I was never one of those women who insisted on a girly bedroom but as our lounge is a real vintage gentlemans lounge it seemed nice to add some femininity to it. I've been gradually changing the modern pine furniture over to an eclectic mix of vintage pieces and we've started hanging out at antiques and vintage fairs to find some quirky accessories and design pieces that will really give it some flavour. I was "allowed" out to a big fair at Alexandra Palace this weekend and was lucky enough to find some fab faux vintage pearls, a set of silver and mother of pearl opera glasses and a great silver and crystal perfume bottle which will hopefully help you picture the kind of mood I'm going for!
Then I saw this on Ebay - the exact matching wall sconce, with a double light, and it's 240v and in full working order! Agreed a price of just £40 ( I know!!!!) with the seller for one with a missing piece of glass (which will be hidden behind our mosquito net that hangs over the bed all year round anyway) and there we go! I can't wait to get it here and get it wired in!
