We have a campervan called "Greebo", a four wheel drive called "Biskit" (everyone loves it - biscuits are pretty big in our family...), and a car called Calvin so it was only to be expected that my most recent aquisition, being a bright orange trike, should be called Hobbes!
If you aren't familiar with Calvin and Hobbes then I'm deeply worried about you and you should stop reading this blog and go and buy the complete works from Amazon. Seriously. Off you go!
As I'm not well enough for another bike just yet, and time is ticking on since my last one I've been teasing myself with the idea of a trike. I was put off by the bad stuff: can't filter, can't roll around corners like a mad thing, girls on trikes are construed as ones not good enough to get a bike licence, and that Mr LFCC wouldn't want to ride anywhere with me as he'd get stuck in traffic with me. He has admirably promised that he'll stay with me, and we agree that it's better than not having any kind of bike at all so we started looking.
There are a lot to choose from but a good one is expensive. We found this awesome trike based on an old Honda CX500 with a really cool chopper front end that someone somewhere put a lot of time and money into!
This one isn't finished, and needs a little bit of work and then registering on a Q plate as a trike and that kind of thing is enough to put a lot of people off. We got it for a bargain price though (£200 less than the chap we bought it from paid) and I'm determined to have it on the road before summer's done.
I'll bore you senseless with progress reports, I promise! In the meantime, here's a quick snap of the fleet, with Mr LFCC's vintage Guzzi T3 from 1975 which we fired up for the first time today and sounds AMAZING, a newer Guzzi Griso, a Harley Davidson Road Kind, and my little Hobbes!
